Food Budget Allowance For A College Student?
My son will be transferring to a new college next semester. Previously he has been living at home. He will be living off-campus in an apartment by himself. All of his expenses such as tuition, rent, utilities, etc. are all covered.
What would be a reasonable monthly allowance for just food? He will NOT be using the college’s food service program or anything like that. I expect he’ll buy his own food at a local supermarket and cook in the apartment, as well as eat out occasionally. Just wondering how much other students spend per month on food? Thanks.
Okay, I don’t know about when you were in college, but when I went 1 thing I learned is that:
college students do not cook. Nor do they go grocery shopping. 
When you visit him, you’ll see evidence of this by the Taco Bell sacks in the trash.
I’m thinking about 250 a month or so… but I’ve been told I’m pretty cheap… definitely get others opinions.
